Explore the fascinating art of glass fusing in a creative and caring environment at my home studio in Downe, Kent.

Classes and workshops available for beginners and anyone with previous experience who would like to develop their knowledge and skills.

Classes are suitable if you wish to attend weekly, fortnightly, monthly or occasionally, you are able to book the dates you wish to attend.

 


Introduction to Glass Fusing - Beginners

Details

This 2.5 hour course is an ideal introduction to the fascinating art of glass fusing, suitable for anyone new to fusing. Learn how to safely cut glass and use various tools, including the glass grinder to shape your cut glass.

You will explore the basics of glass fusing and look at how glass accessories can enhance a fused glass project.

We will look at glass samples fired at different temperatures to gain knowledge of firing temperatures used in glass fusing.

Create a small fused glass project from a choice of designs, this will be fired after the class and available for collection 7-10 days after your course.

 

Glass Fusing Classes

Explore the fascinating art of glass fusing in a creative and caring environment at my home studio in Downe, Kent.

This course is suitable for anyone with previous glass cutting experience or has attended an 'Introduction to Glass Fusing Course'.

During this course you will be taught various fusing techniques, practical demonstrations will be provided in each technique including any supporting templates and notes. You will have the opportunity to make unique glass pieces in each technique.

You will gain knowledge on how different temperatures produce various effects in the glass during the firing process and explore the use glass fusing accessories such as frits, stringers, glass paints and metal inclusions.
Working in a calm supportive atmosphere in a small class with individual support from an experience glass tutor, each session will introduce a new fusing technique.

Students with experience will be encouraged to explore and experiment more complex fusing techniques to improve their knowledge.
You will also have the opportunity to work on your own design ideas with the support and guidance from the tutor, plenty of inspiration is available, if required.


Small class size - maximum 5/6 students per class.

Iris - flower workshop                                                      Course fee £45.00

Create a beautiful and unique Iris flower in this 2.5hr workshop.

All materials and fixings to create a stemmed iris are include in the course.  The Iris will be fired in the kiln and then slumped over a ceramic mould to create the shape. The two parts of the Iris will then be assembled onto a 50cm copper stem, for you to enjoy all year round in your garden or home. All parts are frost resistant.

These workshops are suitable for anyone with some previous glass cutting experience - this class is not suitable for beginners. ( Please see the flower workshop listing, which is suitable for beginners. )
